Welcome to our very first Stoked Capsule – Timeless Applique

We’re super excited to share this new concept with our customers. We will be producing collections once a quarter that are tied around a specific decoration, garment treatment and beyond. Our goal is to educate and inspire brands using unique decoration concepts!

First, let’s explain what applique is: it’s the art of taking fabric, cutting it out to a specific shape or design, and sewing/embroidering it to a garment. This is a sophisticated method that will elevate your designs for your customers. It has a 3D effect and there are a variety of fabrics that you can use for the layers on top. Clear, black, grey, and white are common thread colors used for applying the top layers, but you may also want to choose a thread color that’ll make the design pop even more. Applique is a timeless decoration method that is always on trend!

Combo Designs:

Using a combination of decorations can give depth and take the garment to a whole new level! These pieces have a soft-hand plastisol screenprint with a fleece applique on top. Screenprint alone would have made a fun design, but the applique provides unique dimension and compliments the artwork. Using applique can also contribute to a higher MSRP, which is a huge plus!

Applique using a predesigned fabric can add some amazing depth to your design. This camo twill added a focal point to this design and the direct laser etching of the fleece is the perfect compliment to the applique!

This classic use of applique makes this hoodie a staple piece. The black thread contrasts against the white felt to give this design another point of interest. The applique on this hoodie is the main feature of the design, but the embroidery also adds significant value to the garment.

Hats

A collegiate-inspired design with a matching thread on a dad hat provides a classic look. This is one of the most common ways use applique for your brand.

This is another design with a heritage-style look. The use of a contrast-colored stitch adds an additional pop of color playing on this specific garment.

Applique on a bucket hat is the perfect way to elevate headwear for your brand. This is using a white felt and clear thread for a clean garment that still stands out from the pack.
